Princess Mononoke is one of the first anime from Studio Ghibli that Faye watched. She was most inspired and impressed by the leading female character who, after being adopted by a wolf spirit, grew up to be the guardian of the forest and fierce protector of all living things in the forest.
After watching this anime, Faye wanted to add a wooden sword to her collection of favourite toys; however, a suitable sword could not be found until she visited the Nakamise Shopping Street at Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Japan. As she played with the sword so frequently, she would need a further four replacement swords after each one broke.
Before drawing this artwork, Faye drafted a pencil sketch of Princess Mononoke and when she drew this artwork she made changes to the size and colour of the eyes multiple times until finally settling on this final version.
Princess Mononoke เป็นการ์ตูนเรื่องแรกๆ ของ Studio Ghibli ที่ปอฝ้ายได้ดูและประทับใจสุดใน’ซัง’นางเอกที่เทพหมาป่าเก็บมาเลี้ยงและพยายามปกป้องผืนป่าและพวกพ้องถึงที่สุด หลังจากดูเรื่องนี้ปอฝ้ายเริ่มจะเพิ่มออฟชั่นดาบไม้ไว้เป็นของเล่นชิ้นโปรด แต่ดาบไม้ในเมืองไทยหายาก เจอครั้งแรกที่ตลาดอาซากุสะที่ญี่ปุ่น หลังจากนั้นเมื่อเล่นจนดาบหักก็ต้องหาทางฝากหิ้วมาทดแทน ก่อนจะวาดรูปนี้ปอฝ้ายเคยวาด Princess Mononoke เป็นลายเส้นการ์ตูนมาก่อน ตอนมาวาดเป็นอนิเมะมีการปรับขนาดตาและสีตาของภาพอยู่หลายรอบ จนมาลงตัวที่เวอร์ชั่นสุดท้ายนี้
“Faye and I loved the anime Princess Mononoke. We wanted to be cool like her. We wanted to be raised by a wolf. Faye often wanted me to play sword fight with her in the garden even when it is way too hot and too sunny. When we played, we pretended to speak Japanese. Of course, we only managed to imitate the accent and the intonations uttered by the characters in the duel scene between Ashitaka and Mononoke using her trusty sword.”

หนูและปอฝ้ายชอบการ์ตูน Princess Mononoke มาก อยากเท่ อยากเป็นลูกหมาป่า ช่วงกลางวันปอฝ้ายชอบชวนหนูไปฟันดาบไม้ที่สวนหน้าบ้านทั้งที่แดดร้อนจัด เวลาเล่นก็จะสมมุติตัวเองพูดภาษาญี่ปุ่นซึ่งก็พูดมั่วๆ กันไปให้สำเนียงคล้ายภาษาญี่ปุ่น เลียนแบบการโต้แย้งขณะต่อสู้ระหว่างอะชิทากะพระเอก และซังนางเอกด้วยดาบที่เป็นอาวุธคู่กายของนางเอก
